NEPAL, 11 October 2026 — Thirty-five participants, including young people and middle-aged adults, took part in a foundation workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) organised by Itachhen Binayak Saving & Cooperative Ltd. in collaboration with Digital Diplomacy International (DDI).

Held at the Conference Hall of IBSC, the four-hour AI for Youth Nepal – Foundation Workshop introduced participants to the opportunities presented by AI and its potential applications in learning, creativity, work and entrepreneurship.

The workshop aimed to make AI more accessible to people at different stages of life, encouraging participants to explore emerging technologies and consider how these tools could support their personal development and professional activities.

Promoting practical and inclusive AI learning

As AI increasingly influences education, employment and economic activity, accessible learning opportunities are becoming important for people seeking to understand and adapt to technological change.

By bringing together participants from different age groups, the workshop provided an opportunity to introduce AI beyond a single demographic. The initiative reflects the importance of inclusive digital learning, enabling both younger and older generations to engage with emerging technologies.

The programme also highlighted the role of local institutions and collaborative initiatives in expanding access to digital skills development in Nepal.

A collaborative initiative

The workshop was organised by Itachhen Binayak Saving & Cooperative Ltd., in collaboration with Digital Diplomacy International (DDI).

The training was delivered by Rajesh Maharjan and Yagyaraj Sharma. Bal Krishna Maharjan served as the DDI Coordinator, while Sunil Gothe, representing IBSC, coordinated the programme on behalf of the host institution. And especially thanks goes to Dr. Mahesh Maharjan to let us connect with amazing instructors in this line.

The collaboration demonstrates how community-based institutions and organisations working in digital transformation can join efforts to bring emerging technology closer to local communities.

Supporting Nepal’s digital future

AI literacy extends beyond learning to operate digital tools. It also involves understanding their limitations, evaluating information critically, protecting privacy and using technology responsibly.

For Nepal, expanding access to practical AI training can help students, professionals, entrepreneurs and community members explore new ways to learn, work and solve problems. Initiatives that connect emerging technologies with everyday needs can contribute to a more digitally capable and adaptable society.

The AI for Youth Nepal initiative aims to create further opportunities for practical AI learning through collaboration with educational institutions, cooperatives, non-governmental organisations and other interested partners.

Institutions invited to collaborate
